W elcome to Moon Reef! Home of the spinner dolphins  ( Stenella longirostris .) The dolphins of Moon Reef have been here for many generations. Legend amongst the people of Silana village share how in the times of old, a large community and village stood where the reef now is . One morning the villagers woke up  to see the rising sea cover their entire village, they left all their belongings and headed to land . To this day divers have reported seeing old Fijian clay cooking pots and bowls seen amongst the coral . The reef is known in Fijian as "Makalati". It is a scared place, our ancestors treated it with the utmost respect. We here at Takalana Bay do the same.
